I employed James at StillMoving Image last summer to take some portraits of my niece and nephew and again this year to photograph my two nieces. He made the kids very comfortable, having some fun to help them relax in front of the camera, but at the same time providing an efficient and professional service. You can tell he really cares about each photograph, some beautiful images to choose from were produced and we now have gorgeous pictures of them which will be treasured forever. I have also acquired one of his individual prints which I am very pleased with. It is one of the most stunning images of Greenock and the Clyde I have ever seen, all the better for being produced by home-grown talent!
I thoroughly enjoyed this shoot. It’s great to work with kids who are so outgoing and a great laugh. This wasn’t a conventional shoot and more of an expressive performance from the girls. The first shoot with the younger kids was a great day to but not as crazy as the kids are still in infancy. In all the two occasions where ‘of the wall’ and much fun was had by all.

My husband and I came to Scotland for a family wedding in August in Inverkip. I asked the photographer if he would take a photo of the two of us together,which he happily obliged. On returning to our home in Scunthorpe two days later the photo arrived. It was the nicest photo we have had taken and would like to thank James for doing a fantastic job.would definitely recommend StillMoving Image to any one

‘The Moor’ perfectly captures the majesty of the West Coast, shaped as it has been by wind, ice and rain. That James Beaton knows and loves this land is abundantly clear. By means of an unerring eye, an enviable mastery of composition and some deft tweaking in the digital dark room, he has crafted an image of great power. One reaches for the word ‘Sublime’ that idea of beloved of the Romantics. From the Latin sublÄ«mis “sloping up to the lintel, uplifted, high, lofty, elevated, exalted,” it seems to sum up the spirit of this piece and one is reminded of the work of the Romantic painter par excellence, Caspar David Friedrich who used nature to express the sublime.
Pylons
‘Pylons’ epitomises Beaton’s photography. By turns stark, strikingly simple, and stripped down, it often makes use of contrast and juxtaposition. ‘Pylons’ does so to great effect, for it sets the man-made and industrial ( the pylons) against the natural, the moor on which they stand. The resulting contrast is at once powerful, possessed of a beauty born of difference. You can almost hear the buzzing of the electricity flowing down the lines.

We got married on the third of April 2010. We are thoroughly delighted with it. The inside of the album is beautiful and everyone who has seen it has commented on the fact that not only are the pictures inside very natural, they take up the whole page. Every comment made is “I have never seen an album produced in this style before.

We got married in September 2010 and James covered our wedding from the preparations to the service, speeches and first dance. We were pleased with the range of photos to choose from, and found it hard to limit the number of pictures we wished to include! Anyone who has seen our Bellisimo album have all commented on the lovely way it is set out, and the quality of the album in general.

We hired James to photograph our wedding on 6th June 2009. We are simply delighted with our album and enjoy letting our friends see this album as they all say as we do that it is a very beautiful album and have never seen such a wedding album before. James was present from when the day dawned and was there till the evening celebrations after the 1st dance. I may also add that our children got on really well with James and they now occasionally see James and say dad ‘There’s James’.

James Photographed my wedding and designed Thank you cards for my guests. My wedding was on sat 4th september 2010. We are very pleased with the album and the cards. They are both very beautiful and have received much praise. The album is out this world and all my family and friends have the thank you cards with four photographs of my day designed into the card to keep as a keepsake from our special day. James covered from the minute I woke up to the very last minute of my night. James also done extra family, couples etc photos for my friends and family for them to buy themselves. The ‘Extra’ bonus was he is great with the kids, my son Darryl and the other kids just loved him and his hat hehehehe.

Hi George, That was a nice post you put up. In a very large way it shows that my work on TraceyLynne and Colins album secured the second with your daughter Michelle. Both albums are of the same perfetto family but totally different in style and content. I am very happy with the results and it is a great feeling to see the joy in the faces of my clients. I purchased a Box Frame Winter Special 20 x 16 from James and asked him could he put onto it a Photograph from each of my son and daughters wedding, James attended at the house and helped us select the photos, then James using his professional expertise was then able to produce an outstanding portrait onto the Box frame. It hangs proudly on our wall showing happy memories for both days.
